GOD Speaks

Hearing the Voice of God
Too often I’ve made decisions about things, even good things without consulting the ONE I’ve deemed controller of my life. My desires and goals seemed admirable, yet were not always God-orchestrated. A few days ago we heard Apostle Viola state that she didn’t always hear God’s voice and today I confess that either I heard and didn’t heed OR I mistaken what God was saying AND other times I just wanted to do what I wanted to do - REGRETTABLY.

In reality, God constantly speaks to us. We (Leatha) must hearken my heart. John 10:27, Jesus says ”My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Here Jesus was speaking about Salvation. However, Salvation can be extended to saving us from daily pitfalls. The pitfalls can be avoided when we lean not to our own understanding. In ALL our ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct our path.

Do we hear from God and not take heed? Although I'm posing this question to you, actually I’m talking to myself. You just happen to have a front row seat. Yes, I am tired of decisions that lead me to disappointments, grief and repentance. I’m tired of going around in circles. And I’m tired of being sick and tired. We all want to be tuned in and turned on to what God is saying. Don’t we? That’s why we make the sacrifice coming together at 6am each morning. Corporately, we submit our requests eagerly expecting to hear a Word from the LORD.
Like the song says.
“Just one word from the Lord will move all the doubts
And cause the sun to shine
And give peace of mind.” So we say, Speak Lord! Speak Lord! We need a Word from You!

Remarkably, we have come through this consecration period in this brand new year 2024. I pray that you agree with me that in consecrating ourselves, we surrender ourselves to the Almighty so that He can have more control in our lives. Like the Word says, It is in Him we live, move and have our being. We owe everything to our Creator, our Maker, Our Savior including our very existence. We want God to be glorified in the way we think, speak and walk, commanding our minds, bodies and souls to worship Jehovah, El Shaddai in Spirit and in Truth.

To hear from God, we must be still! Psalm 46:10 reads,“Be still, and know that I am God.” Often, we’re too busy to lend a listening ear. There are times, I've prayed asking God to lead me and guide me all the way. Lord, if You lead me I will not stray!
Then I’m presented with an option. I begin to tackle that option. Everything goes wrong - even the smallest steps are not unfolding. I become frustrated and keep tackling it to NO prevail. Finally, I hear the Holy Spirit nudging me, saying didn’t You ask me for guidance. I’ve closed one door to open another. Just trust me!
You see, I was so preoccupied with making it work (staying busy) that I didn’t/couldn’t understand that He was working it all out. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” - when we commit our ways unto Him. It all works for our good! “It is not in man to direct his own steps!”

John 4:24 tells us that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in Spirit and in Truth.” We will not always hear the audible voice. Often, the Lord speaks to our Spirit, in thoughts and impressions. We don’t want to miss the leading of the Holy Spirit, thinking it’s our own thoughts. We must pray, believe God AND try the Spirit by the Word! When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will grant us the desires of our hearts. Our desires will line up with His desires for us. He promised No good thing will He withhold from us. We step out on Faith and God will allow Peace to rule in our hearts.

Knowing that God speaks because He said He would never leave nor forsake us, when we aren’t hearing His voice, let’s check ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with the transmitter because there’s no failure in God so the problem MUST BE me, the receiver. Let’s position ourselves Spiritually where our hearts are tender so we can hear and see what God through the Holy Spirit is saying!
