Pearls of Wisdom

SOUND ADVICE

According to Harvard Business Review, we can all develop smarter solutions to problems and sharpen our decision making skills when we seek advice from the right people—and in the right ways. Yet also remember that God spoke through a donkey so don’t dismiss the pearls of Wisdom that line up with the Word of God!

Here are a five pieces of advice to consider:

1. There's more than one way of doing things. This saying reminds us to stay positive and not give up even when the going gets tough. We MUST strive with all our might to reach our established goals through Christ Jesus. We can make it ONLY when we try looking to Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our Faith.

2. Do unto others as we want them to do until us. This is the paraphrased golden rule spoken by our Savior on the Mount. The King James version reads “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12). Because we want to be treated with respect and kindness; we must therefore practice this daily towards others. In so doing, we can “build stronger, more positive relationships, and create a more harmonious and empathetic society” (Saint Augustine). And this world would be a better place for us all.

3. Pray as if everything depends on God. And work as if everything depends on us. Saint Augustine
The Word tells us to Trust in the Lord with all our heart; and lean not unto our own understanding. In all our ways we are to acknowledge Him, so that He can direct our path (Prov 3:5-6).
God loves it when we cast everything upon Him for He cares and because He’s Sovereign, He knows what to do. Then we are to work out our own soul salvation with fear and trembling. When we use what God has given us or allowed in our lives, we are to continue to work until the job is done.

4. Let’s take responsibility for ALL our actions
Of course we err, so why not learn from these boo boos or mistakes so we can become better people. And perhaps we won’t have to retake the test God so gingerly laid out for us? How can we achieve anything going around in circles? Because we keep coming back to the same point or problem - getting nowhere!

5. Focus on what you can control
When we release things that are outside our control, we can then focus on the things and ways where we can make more positive changes. We are better fulfilled and satisfied walking in our destiny. Remember nothing can happen to us unless God allows it. And anything He allows, He has a purpose for it. Yes, one door may close, but watch another one open.

Prayerfully, we can pull something from these sayings to meditate on or share with someone else who may need sound advice.
