What Can Wash Away Our Sins?

The Significance of the Blood

Please allow me to preface today’s tip stating that I hold no claim to any medical expertise, yet I felt inclined to study this subject and present it to you to the best of my ability.

Gen 2:7 tells us that when God breathed into man, he became a “living soul.”

Dr. William Harvey who first discovered the circulation of the blood, said “The living component of our soul resides mostly in the blood… The blood is the first to live, the last to die; and the primary seat of the soul.” Although there’s still much to learn about the blood, currently we know that it provides oxygen and nutrients to the marrow, the spleen, thymus, lymph nodes and all the other parts of our bodies keeping the cells and immune system working properly. The blood carries carbon dioxide and other waste materials to our lungs, kidneys, and digestive system so they can be expelled from our bodies. It fights infections, and carries hormones throughout. “With each heartbeat, the heart pumps blood throughout our bodies, carrying oxygen to every cell. After delivering the oxygen, the blood returns to the heart. Then the heart sends the blood to the lungs to pick up more oxygen. This cycle is repeated over and over again” throughout our life span.

Scripture affirmatively states that ’life lies within the blood’ and was shed so that we might have eternal life. Jesus’ blood was shed to pay our sin debt; to atone for our sins (Lev 17:11).

What can wash away our sins?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make us whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

O precious is the flow
that makes us white - makes us pure as snow;
no other fount- no other Source we know;
nothing but the blood of Jesus.

I'm sure you see where I'm going. Blood is the life-giving fluid required for us to not only survive; It’s needed for us to thrive. Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
Everything we need is in the BLOOD!

Let’s see how unique the human blood really is:
It contains metal atoms including iron which can cause serious health problems if the levels are too high or too low.
Contains chromium which can not be easily supplemented through diets because some of the additives are “biologically active” meaning they are routinely deemed as hazardous AND we don’t all require the same amount - Our blood is such a miracle!

There’s other metal atoms like manganese, zinc, lead, copper and gold in our blood. See how precious we are? We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Although some metal atoms can be supplemented, the ratio is more complicated than we know.

Having stated all of this, we see the importance and value of the blood. I would be in error if I didn’t state the obvious. Our blood is tainted whereas Christ’s Blood is Pure, Holy and True! Our physical existence depends on blood to sustain us, and, Spiritually, our lives depend on the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Remember the lyrics of the song:
The blood that Jesus shed for me
Way back on Calvary
That blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power
It reaches to the highest mountain
It flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

We have physical life because we were created by God Almighty. And because God sent His son, Jesus Christ to die that horrible death on that old rugged cross for you and me, we can claim Spiritual Eternal life with Him!
We are cleansed, forgiven, and made right with God by the shed blood of our Savior and Redeemer, CHRIST JESUS!

I like the way one commentator put it, “The life that Christ emptied of its blood now pumps everlasting life into our veins.”

So today’s health tip is for us to allow the sanctifying Blood of Christ Jesus to work through us to show others the way.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

We must be consistent obedient workers for Christ knowing that we can face whatever occurs because of the Resurrected BLOOD.
